Lookin' good J.R. !!!
Dude. This guy makes great artwork. Totally awesome. He has a website but I prefer HIS BLOG...and I think you will too.
So I recently attended a show at the Roots and Culture Gallery called The End of Analog. Last week phone books were delivered, many businesses just left them on the ground and then it rained. It's pretty ugly and sad because who the F uses the phone book anymore? If I were in the show this would be my artwork. Shot on my cell phone.
Um ok so I'm trying to buy hairclips, which takes you to some pretty trashy sites, but why when I click on a link called "sexy scarves" on this site THIS PICTURE comes up. What the. Scary, not sexy.
Ok so I really love G.G. Allin's tattoos. They are just great. I plan to get some similar looking ones in about 20 years. I particularly like the grave stone and the lizard on his arm. Nice one. Also I did not realize his birth name is Kevin Michael Jesus Christ Allin. wtf?
I helped out with wardrobe for a test shoot with Ross F and the amazing prop styling of Angela Finney
Mark has been busy building the Kokorokoko fixtures which look great--but I feel bad keeping him away from his artwork which are these amazing deer! They move along a slot-car-like track that is electrified. Mark built it all out of wood and carved these beautiful delicate deer that are surprisingly realistic looking when running. What a dream!!
Kristen and I went to the Occult bookstore the other day. I am not really into READING as many of you know, but they do have a lot of cool stuff to look at...rare manuscripts, dope jewelry made of bones and a really nice dude wearing a skirt who works there. Their website make the place look a lot more spooky that it actually is check it owwwww.
There are some AMAZING flower headdresses on this website. I found this photo when googling "Dr. Zhivago". I did not even know that these types of floral freakouts existed! Scroll down to see one-woman parade floats in movie themes. Whaaaaa?
Ok I really love this song. And I really love the video, (which I never saw until just now because I never had cable) it is a great mix of late 80s analog video filters/effects, stop motion animation, and early computer animation. Mix it up La Tour!
Whilst searching the interweb for inspirational photos I found some great ones on a blog called "Can We Be Frank" of amazing events and fabulous people. Thank you for sharing!!
Thanks Joseph for making me watch Little Britain on your iphone while I was driving--it was totally worth risking my life for. One of the funniest sketches of all time. Click for youtube link.

Ok so I stopped to take a photo of this "Health Club" sign that is carved out of wood--the antithesis of a place like Crunch or Ballys...when I saw THIS sign next door! The business is called "4 Shizzle" I guess it's a night club by the sound of this blog (with another amazing pic of the place). Amazing.

The other day Brittany and I went to pick up some mannequins from a business called "MS Baubles" now...is that "M.S." or "Ms." as in MS MEANS MYSELF! We don't know! Anyway, after scoring several mannequins, we treated ourselves to a shopping spree at Hot Topic where we got amazing striped hair extensions, then we ate at taco bell where the hot zauce had some pretty existential shit written on it. Example: "Help! I can't tell where I am. It's dark and I can hear laughing". If you do not believe me I can show you this "border sauce" packet in person--it is perplexing...
So all over Chicago there are these store fronts that have huge display areas in the front, which I assume were once used for the original business which had large merchandise or mannequins or whatever but the new businesses don't need that space so they fill it with random, freaky shit. This one did a pretty good job. Try to guess what kind of business this is, the winner gets a prize. (Not from the store, from me)
